Pete Salmeron BIO
Born in Colorado City Texas. He is the son of the late Arnulfo Salmeron and Julia Bonilla. He attended the Colorado City catholic and Public Schools and pursued a career in Auto Mechanics as well as Service Station management. He studied music under the influence of Cesar Lozano and was instrumental in starting the Group Blue Notes in the early 60’s . His heart was in the Tejano/Chicano music which entailed an advanced style of latino music. Unlike the traditional ranchera style music, the Blue Notes played with more brass and ensembles. True to the modern latin music, the Blue Notes had musical influence from Little Joe and the Latinaires, Ruben Ramos, Sonny and the Sunliners, Augustin Ramirez, Tony Hamm Guerrero and Tortilla Factory. The market did not pay enough to keep the group together and most of the members of the Blue Notes had other responsibilities that were priorities above the music careers. Pete continued to play when he could and has had the influence of the modern Tejano/Chicano music. With his heart in the Chicano/Tejano sound, Pete continues to promote the music and sound that was popular in his childhood years. Today, Pete is the head of the M.A.M.A organization promoting the sound and influencing the young musicians in the unique sound of the 60’s.
